The latest of the seemingly, and thankfully, endless Rebus series offers a very detailed look inside the intrinsic working of police investigations, including feuds, corruption and mistrust. By chance a 12 year old corps is discovered, and as the investigation is slowly making progress, it is revealed that Rebus was himself part of the than blotched investigation. As usual, very well written, with perfect, sharp dialogues, and, though no page turner, one can only admire how perfectly the progress of the investigation is slowly revealed. No mean feat by a master of his trade!
